What Are the Five Areas of Study?

The goal of a graduate program is to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in their careers. This involves both academic and practical study of the subject matter, which should be taught with an eye toward helping students develop their career skills. The following are five areas of study that are often associated with a graduate program in management.

In most cases, students take two years (sometimes three) or four years (sometimes five years) to complete a Bachelor’s degree. In these years, students usually receive instruction in one or more of the fields of business administration. A few courses can be taken simultaneously to help with the program’s curriculum. Courses such as Accounting, Human Resources, and Business Management are often part of a program’s curriculum.

After completing a graduate program, students will need to pass a test that assesses their knowledge of the topics covered in the program. There is typically no exam for a master’s level program, but all of the courses taken in the program count towards the student’s Master’s degree. Even though this is not a requirement, many employers prefer to hire graduates who have taken an MBA programs over those who have only taken a Bachelor’s degree.

Although it may seem to be more difficult to get a Master’s degree in Management, a Master’s degree is not necessarily a guarantee of employment success. Although the average job placement for graduates with a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management is much higher than it is for graduates with just a Bachelor’s degree, the difference is not significant. Graduate jobs require that the individual possess solid analytical and decision making skills, but are not necessarily dependent on technical skills, since some of the most popular careers for those with a Masters in Business Administration are in marketing, research, accounting, financial planning, and consulting.

Graduate Certificate Programs in Management can prove to be very beneficial for those who wish to advance their career as a manager in any capacity. They also provide valuable work experience for people already working in management positions. Many employers prefer that graduates take these degrees because they are often easier to teach, as well as having hands-on experience in their chosen field. Those who plan to work in these fields will often take additional coursework to become proficient at the managerial skills they are seeking.
